What Should I expect?

We understand that it can be a daunting thing to go to church for the first time, or even if you have been to church before, it can be scary going to a new one. So what should you expect when you come to a gathering at The Embassy?

Well our Sunday gathering will always start with a welcome and most likely a reading from the Bible. This is often called a ‘Call to worship’ and just helps us to focus in on why we have got out of bed on a Sunday morning to meet together.

After the reading from the Bible, we would usually sing a song or two, have some notices to hear about upcoming events happening in the life of our community. Then we’d sing some more, and take communion together. The communion is a time for us to remember what the Lord Jesus has accomplished for us in his Life, death, resurrection, and soon return. Anyone who has committed themselves to Jesus in faith is welcome to take the elements, however, if you aren’t yet in that place, there’s no pressure, don’t feel that you need to do it to fit in or that we will look down on you if you don’t, we’re just glad that you are with us in our gathering and willing to spend some time getting to know us and allowing us to get to know you.

After the communion we might have some more music or go straight into the sermon, then we might finish with a song and head out to our cafe for a cuppa and a bikkie together. This is a really important aspect of our gathering as it allows us the space to hang out, chat, hear what’s going on in each others lives, and to pray for each other.

And that’s a pretty typical service at The Embassy.
